Digha Sankarpur Development Authority
The Government of West Bengal constituted the Digha Development Authority (DDA) in 1993 as a statutory body under the Urban Development Department (Town & Country Planning Branch) for the planned and orderly development of Digha.
In 2003, Sankarpur was brought under its jurisdiction, and the Authority was renamed the Digha Sankarpur Development Authority (DSDA). The jurisdiction then covered 8,752.66 acres (35.42 sq. km.) across 42 Mouzas.
Subsequently, Mandarmoni and Tajpur, comprising 9 Mouzas and 8,467.92 acres (34.27 sq. km.), were brought under DSDA. In 2026, a further 202 Mouzas under Contai-I and Contai-II Blocks, covering 37,090.292 acres (150.10 sq. km.), were included to promote coastal tourism and ensure planned regional development.
With these expansions, DSDA now covers approximately 54,310.332 acres (219.79 sq. km.).
Over the years, DSDA has focused on strengthening tourism infrastructure, improving road connectivity and accessibility, and upgrading essential infrastructure across its jurisdiction. These initiatives aim to support the growing tourist footfall, improve access to coastal destinations, and promote balanced and sustainable regional development.
